FAQs

  • By Meg is the bridal branch of MJG. Both hold the same values, the same ethos and the same skilled team - one serves our bridal clients and one serves our womenswear clients.

  • Step 1: Consultation

Your journey begins with a personal consultation with our founder, Meg, together, you'll explore various design options and discuss how we can create a piece that truly reflects your unique personality.

    Step 2: Design

Once Meg has gained a deep understanding of your vision, she will use her expertise and creativity to bring your dream garment to life.

    Step 3: Fitting

We first create a toile (a practice shell of the garment) to allow you to see the final out come. We will then make any necessary adjustments to ensure that the garment fits flawlessly on your body.

    Step 4: Finishing Touches

Once the fitting is complete, our artisans will add the final touches to make your garment truly exceptional - whether it's hand-stitched embroidery or delicate embellishments.

    Step 5: Collection

Before you take your garment home, we give all our clients the opportunity to try on the complete piece/s to see the final look and check you have fallen in love with your new piece.

  • Our Atelier is based in Wakefield, just a short 5 minute walk from Westgate train station, making us easily reachable by public transport (especially for our London clients!) There is also ample parking in the carpark over the road from us if you are traveling by car.

  • We love when clients have a creative vision they’d like us to bring to life using one of our “The Collection” pieces as their muse. We ask that for custom pieces, you contact us to place your order.

  • To try on our Collection, please contact us to book an appointment with us at our atelier.

  • As a brand we pride ourselves on being ethical manufacturers, which means every garment we make, the artisan that produces that piece is paid a good and fair wage for their work. To put that into perspective, the average highstreet garment has 3-4% of its cost dedicated to labour costs, we dedicate 20-30%.

  • Because of our commitment to sustainability, all our pieces are made-to-order. This means that we don’t carry excess dead stock or create excess waste to throw into landfill. As a result we need 3-4 weeks to craft your Standard UK sized garment, 6-8 weeks for a custom piece and 6-12 months for a bespoke garment. Should you need a garment quicker than this, please get in touch with us to see how we can help and our availability.

  • We recommend hand-washing your MJG garments, not just because it will extend the life of your garment but also because it is more sustainable for a variety of reasons.

One of the main benefit of hand-washing garments is that it uses far less water then a washing machine, and therefore smaller quantities of detergent can be used to match the smaller quantities of water being used. This reduced waste diminished the packaging involved within washing garments and also the. number of chemicals released into the environment.

Whilst forgoing a washing machine for cleaning garments requires more time and planning, the use of hand washing also saves substantial amounts of energy and therefore, reduces the quantity of resources being used on laundry.

The main benefit of hand washing clothes though, is the fact that it is much gentler on your garments and can lead to longer lifecycles especially for those garments that you wear time and time again.

  • Our garments are investment pieces, designed to blend timeless style with exceptional craftsmanship. Handmade ethically in the UK, they reflect our commitment to sustainability and quality. Whether you choose ready-to-wear, tailored adjustments, or a unique bespoke design, each piece is made to last, offering elegance and durability that transcends time.
